The admissions office reviews the academic records of all applicants to determine initial grade placement for elementary, middle, and high school students.

Academic records are essential in the enrollment process. School records must be official copies from the previous school. If records are in Russian or English, they should be translated into Tajik. The certified translation should be included with the official school records. If no school records are available for elementary students, please request that the previous school supply a letter indicating the year(s) the student attended that school and in what grade(s).

KIS offers an English Language Learning and a Russian Language Learning program for students who qualify for admittance but have limited language ability. The goal of the program is to integrate students into the regular classroom environment, over a two-year period.

High school students are expected to have a higher level of English and Russian proficiency than secondary students.

Middle and high school students may be required to take one or more placement tests in various subjects as part of the admissions process. These assessments are designed to assist us in making an accurate placement of each child into our curriculum.

Before admission, a school official will review each applicant’s school records and test results and will conduct an interview before confirming grade placement and/or course schedule. At least one parent is requested to accompany the student to this meeting. KIS policy states students must be in full-time residence with at least one parent or legal guardian.
